Avara: designing a Coorg stay around the place itself

How Avara moves from a full-screen Coorg landscape to villa choice and a useful sample stay planner.

A resort site has to make a place feel worth travelling to, then answer the practical question: where would we stay? Avara starts with a Coorg landscape and lets that question arrive a little later.

Avara is our fictional private-villa retreat in Coorg. Its business goal is a qualified direct-stay enquiry. The villas and imagery are imagined, and the planner does not make a reservation or send personal details.

The original generated photograph carries the first screen; the name and frame are live HTML and CSS.

The landscape comes before the booking form

The full-screen photograph, thin architectural frame and large serif wordmark are the first decision. We kept this composition through the refinement pass because it makes the setting legible before introducing a form. The visual starting point was Balinesia by Ahmad Ghani. Avara has its own Coorg story, generated images, coffee-leaf mark and copy.

The middle of the page answers the stay question

An introduction names the coffee-estate setting. A full-width villa photograph then leads into a three-villa selector, followed by a small collage of walks, food and outdoor time. The slider keeps its controls on the image and uses clear chevrons. Each change updates the villa name, image and capacity details together.

The planner makes the next step concrete

Plan a stay opens a side panel. A guest chooses a villa, dates, adults and a first name. The form checks that checkout follows check-in and that the group fits the villa, then writes a sample stay summary in the page. Changes to the choices update the small planning hint before submission. A real retreat would still need live availability, rates, taxes, policies and an enquiry or booking service.

The header stays reachable as the visitor scrolls, but takes on a compact dark surface after the opening image. The menu opens as a side panel, and reduced-motion settings remove the entrance travel. Karnataka Tourism's Kodagu guide informed the coffee, weather and food references. It does not verify the fictional villas.
